Quality Inspection Lead

Purpose of Position:   To lead and direct quality strategies and continuous improvement initiatives to meet the requirements of Active Exhaust and our customers. The Quality Inspection Lead has primary ownership and responsibility to oversee EOL, GP12, LCC Inspection.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of EOL/GP12 and LCC inspection
    • Establish and maintain robust processes
    • Ensure appropriate staffing to support Production and Shipping
    • Create and maintain an appropriate data base, analysing results and making appropriate recommendations
  • Monitor and ensure inspection efficiency staffing accordingly
  • Issue of rework instructions for rejected parts and working with the appropriate production lead, monitor the flow of rework and have primary responsibility for approving rework parts back into inventory.
  • Maintenance and monitoring of the inspection matrix
  • Play a leading role in driving data back to the shop floor for prompt remedial action/follow-up
  • Collaborate closely with other associates and production staff to improve inbound quality                               
  • Other duties as required.

Key Qualifications:

  • A relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or technical college.
  • A minimum of 10 years working in a Quality or similar position, technically focused in a metal manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years of supervisory/team leadership role
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T, part dimensioning and gauging protocols
  • ix Sigma (Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt or Master Black Belt) training or certification considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively with hourly and management employees
  • Proven track record for building or improving a robust quality management systems with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience giving presentations to management regarding project results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer skills (MS Office including previous use of MS Access, Minitab Statistical Software)
  • Adaptable with often changing and competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
